Sing Me A Song About Charlie

~*Marge Tindal*~

Oh, sing me a song about Charlie
before he went off to the war
Sing me a song … bring his memory home
though Charlie won’t be home anymore~

Buried deep in a sand-covered heap
Charlie laid down his life for us all
For the freedoms I know … all the Charlie’s I owe
because they answered this nation’s call~

So sing me a song about Charlie
Tell of his valor and his might
Sing to me … a haunting melody
of Charlie before the fight~

Bring him home to this country
that honors the fact that he paid
the ultimate price for our freedom
in this land where Charlie’s body now lays~

"All gave some … some gave all"

Memorial Day 2003

Marge, this is a very beautiful and appropriate poem for Memorial Day. How many soldiers have lost their lives in the pursuit of freedom. It especially affected me with my son still over in Iraq. Thank you for this poem honoring all of our veterans both living and dead. ***Ivy Rose
