Julian told me
poetry is for the faint of heart
to hide behind
when intellect and religion fail,
when nothing else will make it safe
to face the world;

the mystery of the rhyme
combined with the timing of the thought
preoccupies the mind,
lyrically distracting the distraught
the terrified,
like sunrise
through a blood red stained glass window;

I understand the concept
but only as an abstract
served up for argument,
like beer and beans with relatives
whose only entertainment
is screaming at each other
when they're drunk;

I don't escape to poetry,
I wear it like a cape
that hangs impatiently
until I have the time
to wander on a windy moonlit night,
in search of joy
or pain,
it matters not
as long as together we go
dancing on the left hand of reality.

You are something else you know!  How true your words ring~ I'm just glad to be going
and if I make some sense along the way, I'll chalk it up as an added bonus.

Good stuff icebox~

I loved this line, profoundly truthful:

"I understand the concept
but only as an abstract"

it applies to so many encounters with 'reality'

If I gushed, I would over your poetry.     The style, the content, the flow...I greatly enjoy them all.

(smiles) This rings so very true, dearest friend, except I believe poetry is for everyone, and it is in everything, waiting to be grasped to correct the wrongs that are stamped in many places! (sigh) With the poetry all around us, we can make justice and raise not your right hand but your left to let them know your stance, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
