You Ring True

to you belongs love
but you have tasted pain
one can not survive without the other
both are needed to remain
shallow breaths have left you
lingering in thin air
and bore upon your naked heart
leaving you alone in red repair
yet, each drop that fell
turned into a crimsoned storm of rebuild
empty places left inside
are covered with strength and filled
and now you think you hear an echo
and thinkā€¦ this is your weakest part
listen closely now, the sweet sound you hear
is the beating of your heart

I never assume anything, anymore, but? If it's not for me? Then they must share it, 'cause I'm snatching this into my library as "mine!"

(guess that means I needed it, huh?) But it amazes me how we can dance in sync to different tunes.

Helen,
I echo serenity's thoughts! You're the best. Try to help one and you end up helping many. Thanks.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Whomever your friend is they certainly have a true friend in you as well.  I like that Karen took it, as the last lines are so "her" as she has the biggest heart there is.  Nice words Helen.

Helen~
Much truth in these words, and so beautifully penned.

Sometimes I feel as if my own is still beating, but more like a living dead sort of beat.
*sigh*

I suppose beating is life..and life is life..even in pain, eh?

Lovely..
and thank you for writing this.
