Shadows By The Nile Backwards, slipping through time to walk the dunes of Pharaohs, wade the water's reeds, touch the stories of the tombs carved laboriously upon the stone pillars of millennia. To smell the fires, taste the bread Push the block as thousands strain against the hemp...slowly...inches slide till the next matching piece falls in place, awaiting the final rest. Backwards, as waters flowing up stream Withdrawn to vortex and swallowed by the sun. To walk upon the virgins sands, feel the newborn wind on olive skin, watch the granite blocks upon their birth. As Egypt becomes its greatness, an empire proud in fertile flooding. Treasure melded in the fires of occult. Riches of culture, thriving on the banks of the Nile, flooding the bloodlines of Kings. And to the bite of serpents, the heart grows faint. In the dances of handmaidens and servant princes, decorated in a life after death to shadow. Upon the history of changing lands, beneath the painted eyes of creamy hands. In silence the great Sphinx watches over the shifting sands, changing lands as time sifts the hourglass...Eyes of history, as handmaidens dance...as princes stand.. beneath the wandering dunes.. copyright 2003 Magnus/ThisDiamond [This message has been edited by Magnus (05-25-2003 11:56 AM).] |

The attention to detail here is remarkable. You both managed to paint the scenes, including the aforementioned detail, without this becoming tedious or sounding "forced." It is quite an accomplishment to write informative poetry that goes down so smooth as to be painless. I congratulate you both on accomplishing just that! This is mesmerizing in just that way. Great post, you two! |

This is superb! The tale, the presentation, all remarkably well done. But that doesn't surprise me, considering the two who pieced this so seemlessly together! |

Thanx ladies, I have to give a great deal of credit to a gifted gal who adapts easily to most any theme... makes it very easy to feel the vision painted by pen.. |

There is no better clearing of the conscious mind, than to fly the timespan with a knowing and kindred friend. Enjoyed the stretch across time...and have been blessed with such a wonderful mentor as this dear Magnus. Thanks to everyone for so much graciousness and inspiration. TD |

Magnificent writing, especially rivetting as I've been reading a wonderful book about Tutankhamen and the discovery of his tomb..funny coincidence |
