And Yet, I Die |

And Yet, I Die Today, I died. A final act in a series of survival through false promises and battered flesh agony. I’ve long since passed that threshold of cope and God giving me more than I can handle. I’m out of time and understanding of sorrow stained tomorrows that drag me through hell, only to wake the next morning, a reckless ritual, to face it all again. I’ve tried everyone and everything, and still, there are no answers, no Band-Aids large enough to stop the gush of vile throbbing through my heart. And no surgeon has yet to cut out this ache, the listless complacency of it all; this robotic numb with it’s mechanical beat pumping faithless blood through veins. Still, rose-coloured-glass-eye men in white lab coats with their thoughtless theories and indifferent statistics say that it can’t be done. That a heart is unable to break in the science of things. But, as they polish the glass glazed lettering of my name while darkness falls on cemetery stone, I’m proof that a heart can snap, jagged as bone. I cry broken tears in a field of broken dreams, this heart is paper, leprosy torn and without the wind, it cannot fly. Though the lark softly sings outside my window pain, and the sun still stings my skin with cock-eyed smiles, I am paralyzed, fearing not the death that becomes so clear, wanted, inevitable. Hope places its hand on the heave of my chest, as heart, apart, drudges on to pace up and down. Yet, without love, my world has no meaning... inside I die. Without love, or at least without even the sense of love's existence in the world, life has little value. Sad. Life however can always surprise us. I hope the evening rests gently on your shoulders. The poem leaks pain from its pores, yet is an excellent piece of work. Thank you for sharing it. |

~icebox, QjQ and whiskey: Thank you for reading and for your great replies.~ This poem has been wanting to be written for a long time now and upon reading Aenimal's poem "Love" it all just poured out. So, thanks to Raph for inspiring me yet again Melissa~ Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world! |

Melissa, You write of that side that many know too well but few can express. In the science of living my life I have experienced the broken heart. What I never knew was that friendship can put it back together again. I love your writing almost as much as I adore your spirit! & If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

(big hugggsssssssss) You know...I just saw Bruce Almighty in the theatre today (it is a wondefful movie) and some parts really made me cry and deeply touched me. The way Jim Carrey's character stared through the mirror in prayer and could see Jennifer Aniston (she plays his girlfriend) in pain and praying for him, then Jim prays in the rain on a highway and gets hit by a truck and meets God in heaven where he unselfishly wishes his love happiness and how in himself and being himself at first, he got his love back all over again as he recovered in the hospital! (sigh) I brought this up just to show that to love, you must start by being and believing yourself, you are the calyx and the love you shall find is like the petals that decorate your heart! But give to yourself first, God less You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Melissa, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story |

What do the scientists know?? I can attest to the fact, a heart can break. And it takes so little, yet so very much to mend. Very nicely written, the sentiments I've often felt... |

We are taught that you can only survive when you have air, water, and food. But without any purpose, or meaning. Without something to really live for. And without some kind of feeling of love. Then it can really make you ponder your own existence. Very nice write Honeybee! I enjoyed it very much, Richy |
