From Janet's Place In Space

~**~
The arms of my sweet Mother
so many times have held me
Even when she was not seen with my eyes
her touch I could feel and see

At times I would not have been able
to arise from so far falling
Had I not always felt my Mothers arms
and her dear sweet voice I would hear calling

She has always shown affection
very giving with her love
The kind of person she is
could only be from up above

God made a special person
when He created Mothers
He put within something unique
which is not found in many others

An unconditional love He put
down deep inside their hearts
For no matter the actions or distance
of her child this love never departs

We just passed her special day
the weeks are less than two
So call her to just say hello if you are blessed
to still have your Mother with you
~**~

This is beautiful Ethel and brought a lump to my throat..
My mom has been gone many years now..
But I know she will be watching today as my youngest son is being married..
I know mom will be there in spirit as I have felt her presence many times.
May I keep this?  I thought so.. Thank you.
~Smiles & Hugs, Nancy~

dancing with you in the summer rain~

Thank you, dear Nancy. I'm sorry about your Mother, but I believe, too, that she will be watching on this very special day of your son's marriage. In fact, I wouldn't be the least surprised if you happen to feel her hand holding yours today.

I hope everything turns out beautifully for your son's wedding. I'm sure it will with such a special Mother as yourself.

And, I would be honored for you to keep this poem. Thank you, sweet friend.
Heart hugs to you,
Ethel

El_Campeador, Oh yes, we are blessed if we
still have our Mothers. Even though my Mom and
Dad live in a different town than me, she and I
talk on the phone three or four times a day.
We're close enough that there's no long distance
charges. I sure do wish that my daughter and
I lived closer so it wouldn't be long-distance.
One thing my Mother, my daughter and I have is the gift
of talk. LOL  I think it's a hereditary thing with us. HaHa!!
Hugs,
Ethel

Ethel,

This was very heartfelt. I have lost my mother when I was twenty. I wrote her a poem once and never gave it to her. So many people let the time go and never use it to the fullest. Here is my poem that was written thirty four years ago on a piece of scrap paper that no one has ever seen. I keep in her jewerly box with her worn and broken treasures.

To think I hardly know you
For so many years I grew thru you
and now, only now
am I prepared to understand you

I was little then
You never had the time to know me
I called you mother
  cried alot from wanting
from needing

The years have turned over many times
  in my mind
Soon you will have passed before me
Now I wish you were born
  twenty years ago

We could be friends...

To all of you who still have your moms. Tell her while you have the chance how you feel.

Love your poem and thanks for making me open up her precious memory box.

Yep..all the above and more...the older I get the more I feel the blessing of having my mother still with us (and sometimes  the more I believe she's gonna out live us all!!).  And the more I feel the short comings of what I've done/haven't done in my life for her. Also I cherish the fun we've had  -- there was a period a number of years back we literally boogied the evenings away together...  thanks for bringing the thoughts up again, my friend...

I just did have a long conversation with my Mama this morning, and will be visiting her next week.   I keep her close in my heart dispite the miles that separate us.  We can't let money keep us apart, we just can't!!  It's the best reason I can think of to run my credit cards up!

It's almost time to fly!!!   You write so lovingly Ethel~

Thank you for this.

Lori, I'm so glad that you are going for
a visit with your Mama. Yes, I understand
the bond between a Mother and her daughter,
and it's felt even though there is distance.
I know you're getting excited.
Thank you, friend. I appreciate you very much.

Hugs,
Ethel

A well written poem.

I can not imagine what you describe in this; I can not even grasp it on an intellectual level.  All I can understand is that the person and relationship are a source of joy, solace and strength for you.

I have from time to time wondered what that is like; your poem is about as close as I will get to knowing.  Thank you for sharing it.
