The Letter He wrote a letter to his revered Love -- With the tide of passion flowing from his heart He painted but dreamy castles above, Where cloudless skies would sunlight impart. He wrote of her beauty; radiant and pure, That beamed from a soul of no ill deed, And a heart that pulsed with no false lure -- For she was a creature of a noble creed. And he wrote of the songs she sang at play; Her melodic voice - such elysian tune - Welcomed the morning of a joyous day And with a soft lullaby -- the rising moon. Her eyes would gleam as the rarest gem And store in their depth the ocean of life. In that reflection would the spring of love stem And drown in its flow all sorrow and strife. But what he had written – she never learned; For he carried it locked in his heart of clay; And the gossamer veil of dreams he yearned -- On wings of time was carried away ------ CG |
