In Memory Of My Aunt... Pamela Ann Wallace Barr
Jan. 27,1949 - May 14,2003

Four Ways

Running wildly but never really moving much
I caught my breath in the God help me kind of way
I think I'd just forgotten how to inhale any life
The moment I witnessed your Independence Day...

Didn't come easily for you as my prayers to the skies
But, surely, I only had four ways to fall
Silently, effortless, whole heartedly, and to my knees
Where on my way down I imbedded them all...

I know there was just never enough true light
So, the earth simply couldn't hold you here
But, a single memory, every second, touched this heart
And, a little bit of life fell with every tear...

Nothing pleasant in the passing of good-bye
Though you found your four ways to going home
Ever graciously, anxiously, happy, and willing
But, never having to make that journey alone...

Heart to heart and hand to tightly clutched hand
We viewed ever final and our end to this forever
To remember, to value, to treasure, and to smile
Are the clearest four ways to keep us together...

You left your mark for the whole world to see
But, I only had four ways to help relieve me
It was up, down and left then right
The sign of the cross in the deep dark night...
