Can you hear it?
The silence,
the loudness of the silence
pounding somewhere between your ears.

Can you hear it?
That awful silence
that leaves you bewildered,
lost, lonely, plaintive...
The noise that never was.

The golden silence
that grows in the vacuum
that is your mind,
ringing with the emptiness
that nothing is;

The shocking silence
that explodes like a bomb
on your unsuspecting consciousness
forcing the audible into oblivion;

The peaceful silence
that flows like a waterfall
with decreasing decibels;

That shouts aloud!
Like the wind over
a deathly still pond.

the beautiful silence,
Like the unfurling of rose petals
covered with dew,
or the emergence of toadstools

Can't you hear it?
The silence.

Silence, an elusive state of mind,
sometimes...we want it so, and then when
it is ours, we fill it with inner noise...
