we sit in the span of our airs
legs stretched across the sand
breathing whispered sighs
dreaming an unfamiliar joy
feeling brave to persuade
thoughts of the unseen
and see beyond the horizon
               of the setting sun

we watch the eclectic sea
uniting waves in matrimony
that meet and kiss and then clash
frothing in superficiality
before drawing back their steps
in swift undercurrents
and cleaning up their prints
         from the golden sand

faraway the reddish star melts
into the deep blue of the sea
as if to cool down its heat
leaving the clouds to shed yellow
and give way to crimson
before succumbing to
         the grey of ash

seems like the sea is brutal
on our side and calming
on the other

and like clockwork,
the bird sings in mobile phone rings
tweeting reality back through the ears
and bringing a sense of fear
of what should be done and how
and ‘where should we go from here’ thoughts

Hmmm... Maybe we should try and cross the sea. I don't know if I am ready to try it yet, though.

I enjoyed reading this

“We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best that we can find in our travels is an honest friend.” –Robert Louis Stevenson

beautiful write, and I like how you put the dread of "getting back to reality..."  I understand that all too well...I enjoyed the read...thanks!

That line in the distance always looks very inviting doesn't it?

Sudhir

Such a contrast you have painted between the dreamy sea and the reality of life.  I so enjoy reading you.

This made me think of the last time I watched a sunset on a beach. It was wonderful, and getting up after it was over was very difficult.

I love your images..most especially what you do with the image of the ocean, the waves, the sand, etc. I have never read those descriptions before..and they are brilliant.

You could hurt me with your bare hands. You could hurt me using the sharp edge of what you say. JEWEL

A beautiful, vivid imagery you have woven.

For some reason I especially like this part:

uniting waves in matrimony
that meet and kiss and then clash
frothing in superficiality

A rude awakening to reality; though, I think,   both are but parts of our reality.

One part we own...
and one...we can only visit.
