STORY OF A STREAM Clean, innocent, new, a stream bubbles up from the earth to the knowing of you and sparkles within the diamond of youth like love in its infancy. From the top down a gorge between realms runs passion uncertain, unsure, till the land falls away, it loses hand-holds and sinks into reality. Sprayed into the air are hopes, wishes, dreams, permanent there like a feeling, a thought, not expunged by the movement of time. In the distance an echo, a call evermore, over mountains like thunder in pain for truth to be kind, transparent, not lie, and annihilate discrepancies. Where a boulder a stone, weak, mean, insincere, where a pebble a force unbelievably pure, and it turns and turns in whirlpools of fear. Pushed by necessity it allows the thirsty to drink and still they drink while the river thinks death sooner than time’s prophecy. It looks through the sun at what lies above seeking a reason, a cure, for so long a journey but wends its way through life’s twisted trail of too much to see and much too little to know. The young who have drunk, learnt about love, encourage the river onward but the old stop the flow and keep it on land away from the seabed of free – forever it seems like paper print hands that neither hold nor release the essence of soul contained in a river, a stream. Pain and there’s pain, of love there’s no love, but the river still grows from chewing on earth and not from the force of its own energy static, unseen, in reality. The sea, the sea, an impossible dream, how long can it wait for a river, a stream? © Helen / May 2003 |

Thank you QjQ, Icebox, and JamesM, for reading and commenting. How wonderful the stream of life that gathers, discards, and retains to last only the good memories! |
