Anasazi Bean Dip and Salsa Nightmares |

Anasazi is a Navajo word meaning ‘the ancients.’ According to Navajo lore, this Ancient Native American Indian tribe cultivated the Anasazi bean outside of Mesa Verde Park, southwestern Colorado. And even today, the spirits contained within these beans can surely sneak up on you in the middle of the night. No where to run and it’s futile to fight. I made some anasazi bean dip and mixed it with last week’s salsa, combined it with those blue corn chips and made a feast fit for a king. We had quite a fright that night, for the ancients from the fridge gave me fits beyond belief. Ah, but that roll of modern day Tums did provide a temporary relief from those ancient marching drums. I love the ancients, but their nightmares are something to leave behind. |

(sigh) Kind of like the same curse with the Incans; they cultivated the first known potato, then the Spaniards came and dominated their land and took it with them, and I wonder if the reason why potatoes have so much salt aftertaste in them is becasue they contain the tears of the ancients! (sad sigh) I love salsa and put Tabasco on pretty much any entree but I do understand more than the food itself, this is wonderful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sahring! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story |

This is my kind of feast! But I know what you mean about those ancients. You'll try it again, anyway, won't you? |

The past is another country; we do not live there anymore. The spirit is ageless, but the body it wears always is adapted for the current life and its conditions. Perhaps in different lifetimes some of life's ingredients are harder to digest than others. *smile* An entertaining work. Thank you for sharing. (By the way, the other translation of "Anasazi" is ancient enemy.) |
