The Language Of Love

I heard somebody calling out
for answers to her cries
She wants to know if just in
verse a true love can reside?

If passion and all fervor live
in the subconscious state?
Or if it is quite simply that
it all depends on fate?

Expressing how you love someone
comes not from fancy words
It’s not about a pretty rose
or thoughts of bees and birds

It’s not about a flowery phrase
that’s penned by quill on scroll
It’s more about a lover’s gaze
that pierces through one’s soul

Our eyes can say more with a glance
then words could ever tell
The silent moment you both felt
on your first carousel

The feeling when you first held hands
while strolling through the park
The way you held each other when
it got cold after dark

How soft her pouty lips felt as
you kissed her at the door
How long you hugged and knew she
was the one for evermore

We mustn’t be concerned about
finding those chosen words
Our hearts have their own language
that our ears have never heard

Your heart will always know if
what you feel is really true
But it doesn’t guarantee
that you’ll know what to do

A feeling washing over you
like rocks engulfed by waves
A feeling knowing that you’d die
so her life could be saved

So worry not when your heart soars
with eagles up above
Your loving soul will open doors
of promise and true love

Don’t try to be someone your not
Be your self all along
Then no one can ever tell you
you’re doing something wrong

Our love’s expressed by things we do
not just by things we say
Our actions are what really prove
And help our hearts convey

How much that person means to us
in our own special way
So they know how much we care at
the end of every day

Godspeed my friends as you resume
your quests for answers to
The questions that we all must ask
I hope they give you truth

I hope your journey’s bring to you
content and happiness
I hope our fate divides us not
Together we are blessed

Oh, thank you.  You have answered my cries so beautifully.  This is it.  This is what I am looking for.  Words are secondary, the gravy, if you will...the icing on the cake.  It is the unsaid.  And it is not a fairy tale.  I was searching for the right words, as poets often do, forgetting that love manifests in the senses.

Oh, I feel so special today that you responded in this awesome way.  God bless you.

Goodness, Richard, this is so beautiful. You said in one poem what I've been trying to say in many. You do have a way with words, Sir. I sure am glad that you came here. Now, we have another person who knows what "true love" is. It can't be explained or figured out, it just is. And when it comes, it needs to be nurtured every day and taken care of tenderly. But, both have to want this for it to happen.

This is so true......

Don’t try to be someone your not
Be your self all along
Then no one can ever tell you
you’re doing something wrong

Well, I didn't intend to say all that, but it just came out. I love this whole poem, but this part sums up my feelings very nicely....

Our love’s expressed by things we do
not just by things we say
Our actions are what really prove
And help our hearts convey

How much that person means to us
in our own special way
So they know how much we care at
the end of every day

And this is one of the many reasons that I love my Honey so much. He feels exactly this way, too....
Thank you for this,
Hugs,
Ethel

Nan -

Thanks Nan, I’m glad...

Hey I’m really starting to like it around here...lol

Nancy -

Wow what a nice thing to say!

I am honored...

Dear Patricia, I’m glad you enjoyed the poem... you’ve really given me a sense of what poetry, writing, or any creative endeavor is really all about...

It is basically bringing someone, if even for a moment, a little joy...

And I’m talking about myself by the way...lol

No seriously, thanks again... for the inspiration, the opportunity and, for the validation...

I feel a little more alive today... Thank You

Always,

Richy

Mon Cherie -

Or do you prefer Florence?

Thank You for your comments, that was very kind of you!

Pete -

OK Pete, now I want to see some more of your writing OK?

And truly thanks, I’m glad you liked it...

Ethel -

Sir? Please... your making me feel older then I already am...lol

You know I’m kidding right?  (hey wait, I actually do feel older then I am... gasp!)

Thank you so much for the wonderful reply... It was very touching...

As far as knowing what “true love”  really is...

Let’s just say that, I know how I would like it to be...

Hey, it’s not so bad... you have to know what something is, before you can ever expect to find it right?

Anyways... I have a feeling your the one who is the real authority here...

Blessings to you...

And thanks again!

Startime55 -

Wow, I’ve never had a standing ovation before!

I’ll have to be honest with ya... it sounds pretty darn good... lol

Thanks friend, you really know how to cheer a guy up on a rainy Sunday afternoon...

Heck, that could even cheer up a frozen mummy on a sunny Fourth of July weekend!
note to self: do a search on what particular holidays mummies celebrate ASAP (!)

Sorry I’m so wordy everyone... writer’s habit...

Take Care Everyone!

Hello Richy

Your words took my breath away and I felt so very fortunate to see through the window into your beatiful soul.  Thank you for sharing your innermost thoughts through your talented pen.  It is so nice to see your smiling face in your picture.

"Keep love in your heart.
A life without it
is like a sunless garden when
the flowers are dead.
The consciousness of loving
and being loved brings
a warmth and richness to life
that nothing else can bring."

Take care........Sue

Hi SimplyyGold, you must have found this one down in the basement...lol  Hey, well thank you for reading it, and for the nice reply. That was very nice of you. Take Care

Thank You Julie, how nice to hear from you. I like your name, “Whiskey.” Even though, you look more like a “Julie” then a Whiskey... lol  I hope life’s been treating you real well...

Thanks Dixie. It’s always nice to hear from you. I hope time’s are good for you!

Thank You BluesSerenade, it warmed your heart huh? Wow, what a nice compliment! Well good, now we’re even, because your poetry always moves me too. You are so right about the eyes. When  your really in love. You just can’t keep your eyes (or your hands either but...) off each other. And you know. Whether or not it’s true, and right. You just do.

But you know, I bet even if you we’re blind, you could still tell.

I guess, our heart’s have eyes too.

Thanks again!

Oh Sue... Gosh... are you sure your replying to the right poem, and looking at the right picture...lol

Sue, you are just too sweet... really... But remember, just like the poem says, it’s really not about “the words.” It’s about our actions.

“A tree is known by its fruit. And actions speak louder then words. It is what you do that defines you, not what you say. Deeds are fruit. Words, are but the leaves.”

Thanks Sue, for always putting a big ol’ fat smile on my face...lol

Oh and Sue, as far as, “Keeping Love In My Heart.” All I can say is, I’ll do my best OK?

Sometimes, it’s just too difficult, to nurture a garden, that has so many clouds, are overhead...

Thanks again everyone!

Richy
