I shiver, skin crawls, mind quakes,
Powder...  For the snow I cry,
Take me on silver wing beyond the shakes,
Into the peaceful heaven let me fly

I scream a concerto of pain,
The walls to which I cling
Break my nails and puncture a vein
From beneath the skin blood starts spurting

Help me!  Help me!  Help me!
Don't allow me to die,
I'm too young, please have mercy!
I scream and yelp, before I slowly cry

No light, no hope, no love,
Just locked in this dingy bedroom cell,
Trapped far from the world above,
Banished to this freezing hell

All I want is my food for life,
How dare you take it from me?
Then leave me here alone with strife,
And beyond the door, laugh with glee

For agonising days I suffer alone,
Buried beneath a dream of snow,
Then my head warms and my life becomes my own,
And I feel my will of life begin to grow

Drugs they cloud you, trap you in ecstasy,
Giving you false dreams and subliminal lies,
Leave it once and you crawl back screaming for mercy,
Always you ignore, the family's painful cries

So to you fifteen before me, do not give in,
The family are helping not hurting you,
Stand and fight against the struggle within,
Then once healed enjoy your beautiful life new...

Thank you all for everything, and before anyone asks this is not my own experiences but my visions of it and how hard it would be to fight it.

But thank you all who voted and gave encouraging words, you guys are the bomb.

This was very well written.... gives an insider view of the physical and psycological effects of addiction and withdrawl... I especially like the double meaning of the the "snow" in your first stanza, although your allusion is to heroin... {everyone who listenned with both ears could read between the lines when Simon and Garfunkle sang "sail on Silver bird" speaking metaphorically of the needle an addict used to inject themself with.}

OK.. got off topic a little... voting for this gem.
Love, Light and Peace,

Sherry

Thanks to all of you who read it, drugs are a very hard thing to deal with, yet they are an unfortunate cancer on society that is claiming so many lives, hopefully works like this and films such as 'Trainspotting' will help to reduce the problem in the near future.
