At times, he missed her more.
A second would do;
a solitary second apart
would set his heart aflutter.
Yes, the import of her smile
could make all the difference.
Call it weakness,
call it need;
call it human desire-
but study her tenderness for an instant
and even stars will panic
to forgive and blink their understanding.

it started off weak. but it grew stronger
like an alcoholic in a drug program [me
and my analogies, jesus..].

that last line--ties the whole poem togeth-
er and, yeah, remarkable.

This is one of those poems that I love to keep and read again,as the words kind of stick to you like glue.  Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
