Beneath the northern stars

0 posted 2003-03-15 11:41 PM

October wind is blowing
Scattering leaves upon the ground.
On this quiet day
Their rustling is the only sound.
Night-chilled air is warming
A new day has just begun
And the morning sky is lighting
With the rising of the sun.

Crystal tears are flowing down
Like dewdrops of the morn
But hardly they provide relief
From sadness, newly borne.
Crying out, a heavy heart
And torn and broken soul
Are realizing now that they
No longer can be whole.

Tear-filled eyes gaze 'cross the land
And watch the sun arise.
Today, a soul went home to God
And dwells within the skies.
No longer on this mortal earth
He looks down from above
To watch over his family
And guide them with his love.

It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got...

Very moving lines in this piece of poetry, which I thought was very well written.  This is so true for this type of sadness..

Are realizing now that they
No longer can be whole.

This speaks so well of the long night's vigil, and the end it promised from the beginning.  I hope this is an old recollection, and not a fresh event.  Well written in either case.

Thank you Charisma, LngJhn, and Paul! I wrote this poem in October of 2000 and it is about something that happened in October '93. I appreciate all your comments.
