You Ain’t No Norma Jean

You know you ain’t no Norma Jean
Even though you got the smile
You sure don’t fit the dream
Leaning there upon the tile

Life’s stage has been somewhat unkind
But still there’s a grace from yesteryear
When once you stood with stronger mind
Not ensnared by life’s new fear

Now you’re just another vessel in the void
Sailing streets of shadowed light
Wrapped tightly up in celluloid
One more goddess of the night

The cruisin’ and the bruisin’
They’re lost within the Gunja haze
It’s cold, and dank, and lonesome
But your eyes they are ablaze

They come in clockwork session
Always leaving with a yawn
Proffering the same old question
Those strangers, misinformed

No one’s privy to the reasons
All part of that master plan
But you know throughout the seasons
They’re nothing more than grains of sand

And so I’ll pass you by again
And catch your eyes in broken light
Wondering why it is we feel this pain
And seek our answers in the night

(big hugggsssssss) Yay, you got it back up here right where it belongs so I can re-add my vote! (sigh) I remember her saying sometime, "If I have the 'cheesecake,' my opponents (being male) have the 'beef' and it's all 'bull'!" (giggles in delight) What a ride it would be if there were more rebels like her, no one is her, that's for sure, I love this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Eddie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Excellent poem. I'm not sure how many 'young people' will catch the reference to Norma Jean though!! LOL I guess we have to be a certain age to get it.

Gee thanks Sharon, I got it!  LOL, and I loved it.  Sad but true so many of all walks of life are out there seeking in the dark.

"They’re nothing more than grains of sand..."
enjoyed your words and
loved the title...I once knew a girl named Norma Jean.
