In beauty's rest,
she lies with pillows 'bout her form,
this perfect breath of loveliness
in silken gown, translucent.

His eyes,
drawn to curves and sigh of breast,
the supple blush
that's soft revealed.

And there in sleep
the hair about her flows
with hints of gold,
as moon, through window,
lights upon each strand.

This art of womanhood,
this maiden fair,
that so enslaves the hearts of men.

And dare he not disturb
this moment's peace,
as he bends forth to place his lips,
to taste her young and tender cheek.

He hears each breath
and longs to drown in her embrace,
to drink her kiss,
to breathe her hair,
again to gaze upon her face.

An art indeed!  You speak very well of the admiration that a man holds for a woman.  Works for me my friend.  Well done.

I could have sworn I replied to this already, but I guess I didn't. I enjoyed it even more than I did the last time I read it This gets my vote

Mr. Michael you've got me all swoony now

As usual your sensitivity shines through in your words. You are a REAL man, because any man who can respect and cherish the art of a woman can always write the heart of a woman....and it would be an honour to have this beauty in the book! I wish more men were like you, and on top of that? You're a pretty darn good poet too! Two for the price of one!

Mike, thanks!

Linda, women truly are the art of womanhood, both in feelings, as well as form.  Thank you.

suthern, I much appreciate it.

waldopepper, thanks much!

Skyfire, you likely did, my poems being lost the first time around.  Thank you for finding this one again.

Melissa, you're a dear friend and your feelings always touch me in a very special way.  Thank you, sweetie.  You're a pretty darn good poet yourself.  You know how much I adore both your poetry and your friendship.
