Konrad’s Qualms Jake always did have a way of sneaking into Konrad’s thoughts, never content that they were brothers, always in denial that they shared the same parents, as Jake was that much better looking, stronger, not necessarily wiser always wanting to battle the male they had to call dad, drunkard that he was. Nausea was wearing thin as the sun grew overhead into a hot ball of Jake’s recalled contempt, how he had flamed at Konrad after the rescue. As hot as the flames from that tired, worn-down truck wrapped around the tree had been, the flames from Jake’s ire had scalded Konrad worse then the flames that had raked over their dad, but Konrad persevered the ambulance had been called the man they called dad lived… and nothing changed. A behind-the-eyeball lance scored its target, and Konrad fell to the bed after having searched the rented room for a stray match, and as the migraine began in earnest, he swore, thinking that the flame behind his eyes could incinerate the certificate if he could only pull it out. The decision to reveal the offending document was still riding the qualms of his boyhood, and he deigned to resolve his wavering by the time he could sit up again. I'll get him a pillow and a percocet, he'll be fit to continue shortly! You're really good at this torment thing Kari. Had a lot of practice? |
