Sketches of me Inside me lives a need to explain myself, so pencil in hand I set off across the page endeavoring to sketch the lines that are me… but, how do I draw one tear drop and not have it followed by another until I leave a soggy suggestion of who I might be? The anger that possesses me shall surely scribble black the pages to hide my smoldering soul. In this world is there lead sufficient to capture the moments of my endure? The love for my little one, I cannot portray, it refuses to fit within reasonable margins. I could bring one back from the throwing, do my best to unwrinkled it and submit to you my getting older as merely fine creasing. The nervous wiggle that lives in my ankle comes across inadequately, it hides all clues to the energy that drives it. Waste basket full, frustration peaking I give up and say, Nay tis impossible, I cannot put into pencil the grace with which one walks nor the crinkle in ones eyes when the heart is overfull. My faith comes forward and tries to put itself down, but in essence refuses. Towards heaven I throw my hands-acceptance I find in my Father’s arms. From this quest I now find rest. you sketch well the outlines... charcoals and greys blended on white..till the image is there...but not quite and the reader takes their own experience..their own fine lines of age and completes it for themselves. |

This is a wonderful observation on the futility of self-definition - at least within the bounds of parchment! Excellent use of this device! I enjoyed on several levels; not least of which is the spiritual. You have a beautiful voice. Rf |

"Self-portraits" are very difficult to sketch. We tend to pick ourselves apart in the most unjust manner. If a true likeness of you, dear jellybeans, was to be painted it would be a portrait divine radiating a kind and beautiful soul. Warm hugs, EA |
