Climb, A Poem

Dark
in a dark
walled abyss,
walls of crushing
coldness,
hardness
endless til
this rose came
wind torn from
where the sky is,
lying shattered,
caught up
trembling on
the rocks
just
out of
reach

I've been going back and retrieving some of my old stuff, that's now on crumbly pieces of newsprint copy paper because I had a "thing" about using cheap paper for poetry.... "Climb..." has been a personal favorite -- now I'm doubly glad I reached back for it.

Ratleader - gee whiz, I am so sorry that I haven't signed this till now. I had no idea until my sister Enchantress told me this evening that you had written a poem dedicated to me. The odd thing about this beautiful piece is......I really once was in this place of which you speak. Ooooh, now that gives me chills. Thankyou so much for this. Chris
