With a child's heart and desperate desire,
do we not judge ourselves?

Lest I slip into another poetless night;
Where lovers, dreamless, drift into squalid light,
I would not return to that desolate, cold,
unspent passion store of silent echoes

Now it seems love has forgotten how
And where were you when my heart
became all broken down?

I would that you had been there
with angels to catch me!

Alas, I am a child no more.

Hanky alert was required here Robert.
Excellent write..sad, yet very nicely penned.

Dear Enchantress, I'm fresh out of tissue . . . here, allow me to dry those tears with this adolescent remedy:

Cats!

Purr cat
fur cat
snuggle-wuggle
your cat!

Prowling lion
hunting mouse
silent ruler
of the house!

By the million
by the ton
kitty cats for
everyone!

Kitty trillions
cats for free
Calico you
Tabby me!

Purr cat
fur cat
snuggle-wuggle
your cat!

Rf

(I hope to never grow too old to write/enjoy a kitty-ditty!)

UH OH, best watch out for the one around here who calls himself a kitty-kicker.
You may be safe for now, since your kitty ditty is not highlighted in the title, and Long Jhn hasn't visited lately.

I enjoyed both poems. Growing up is the pits. I never even had a pet blankie to hold onto, but I want one now!
