~~~ ~~~ The sky wore a suit of grey flannel to-day. Clouds heavy laden with snow without wind crawled their way. Over the river frozen in time. It's shoreline a necklace of artistry sublime. Over the trees now just stick people sketches. Stiff, licorice telephone wire, and the voices it catches. Like drab, bloated pillows, as day becomes night, the clouds an ashen backdrop for geese in their flight. From invisible pockets lace confetti is shaken. Sugar coating the earth - Gift for our eyes when we waken. ~~ Chris Barker Feb.2002 ~~~~~~~~~~ |
This was bea-u-ti-ful. I just thought that you worded this and described the scene amazingly well. I love Winter. I fall in love in Winter... (it's in the snow). With something. There's always something. Thank you for posting this. - Jaime a man of quality is not threatened by a woman of equality |
(smiles) Yay!!! Oh Chris, this is gorgeous, sweet friend, I love winter, though spring is my favorite season, because everything blooms then, but I love winter because of the closeness and purity! (kiss on cheek) I'm so happy you're feeling better, yay, more orange juice hugs from me to you, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Chris, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |
You're feeling better! Great! I know...I know...you're asking why I chose these lines.. Well, I think "Stiff, licorice..rang a memory bell... Then, "stick people sketches" Well...because..of our artistry? You know how well we can draw! Good to have you back on board! Loved this post. Love and miss ya, Teed. ~ Trace my body with your words.. |
You've done it again, I am allways so captivated by your poetry. I am living proof that ghosts exist. Which is an oximoron but I don't care ;) |
Chris, I love the way you wrote this. The descriptions are really good. I loved it..... I also like to read about the experiences that you and Nancy Lee had when you two were growing up. Ya'll should write some poetry about those times. I would love to read them... Ethel - Thankyou so much. I think that if Nancylee and I were to write about our experiences as children, some might shake their heads in disbelief....lol. But, that's a good idea you have. passing - thankyou for reading and commenting. "Hope" is the thing with feathers- |
