I marched along the streets Holding my banner aloft Walked a mile in those shoes Whose soles were worn and soft I heard your taunts don’t worry And felt your spit upon my face My child saw you push me as I took my rightful place I kept my mouth shut that day My pride wouldn’t allow a cry But tears ran down my daughter’s face As she screamed the question ‘why?’ It’s hard at times to tell a child That there is prejudice so cruel That keeps us out of diners And out of white men’s school I turned my face in quiet love And smiled at your angry jeers Then hugged my child as we became Twentieth century pioneers |

very nice, Sharon. I never saw it the first time. I remember where I was when certain events occurred. Thanks for reposting M |

This hurts ... you transmit deep emotion.... a little spark of hope shines through. Margherita |

(big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, it saddens me to see how degraded and segregated all blacks were before, we all bleed the same color, no matter if we're white, black, hispanic, asian, it doesn't matter, we all have the same feelings, we all have hearts, we all laugh and we all cry, and we are meant to love one another! (sigh) This bringsn such hope we can all treat each other as brothers and sisters, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |
