Poet, Poet Poet, Poet I recall Who was the fairest of them all Not she who launched a thousand ships Nor Juliet with waiting lips Dear poet read the golden lines That you once scrolled in ancient times It’s there the loveliest abides Behind a veil where beauty hides Her life is folded on a page That smells of must and mellowed age And words that launched a thousand eyes Into the books of lullabies Poet, you have blessed the world As every sonnet was unfurled A phrase that caused a ship to sail And verses that unleashed a tale Poet, tell us in your way Who is the fairest one today? She’s not been heard of, nor been seen She’ll not be an Egyptian queen Her foot has never walked the earth Nor has she yet been given birth She’ll be a poetess, to men, The fairest hand to hold a pen Dear Mona Lisa, smile for me You’ll be the loveliest I see When you are born, the treasured purse Will be your beauty read in verse Master poet of former days Succumbed in mind, alive in phrase Now who’s the fairest to behold? She’s not within a paper’s fold Beware, oh bard, what you’ve been told Some day her words will launch your soul Elizabeth Santos 2/6/2003 (To my unborn granddaughter) [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (02-06-2003 03:40 AM).] |

What a wonderful way to start my morning Liz! This read so beautifully ... it flowed like a lullibye for all. If this young grandchild is blessed with even a portion of your poetic talent ... she will indeed be everything you've prophesized, my friend. You have led the way of excellence and grace in phrase ... and she will learn from the best. Best wishes and hugs, /Kit |

I can only echo what's been said, This is truly beautiful and I know that the child will one day realise all the meaning in this, and you can teach her This flows so smooth, felt like a lullaby putting me to sleep. Always, Alyssa - And so it was that time stood still - |

Liz--Do you have any idea how much this touched me? I have another unborn grandchild waiting to announce in August. And so the cycle continues and your dear words will be read in years to come, with love. |

And I, also, can only echo what the others said. Your little Grandchild is going to be a very blessed little child to have such a loving Grandmother. Thank you for sharing your heart with us today... Hugs from Ethel |

Beware, oh bard, what you’ve been told Some day her words will launch your soul **************************************** And if she follows your footsteps, it is her destiny to make many hearts beat with love's rhythm. |
