state of confusion

Chance of Rain

On the classical music station
this morning
they say
chance of rain
North of Paradise

they repeat this,
reminding loyal listeners
every place
is just North
of Paradise.

I stop. Stop dressing for work,
cease hollering:
get ready for school, kids!
and wonder
where paradise is,
this place
where it never rains
and death doesn’t come
with the slow crawl of age,
or in car accidents we pass
on the freeway,
and wars don’t happen
along the free way.

I like the way you broke up
the free way, Corinne,
less harmful than the way the earthquakes
do...

Once again...when is that publishing date?

Paradise Cove...that's what I thought of at first. But to find the ultimate paradise, with or without an accompanying rain...
that should take a bit longer than the weather report,
or perhaps it's the whether report?

(giggles in delight) I think it would be right here in Denver, Colorado, if you truly define paradise that way! We have absolutely no precipitationn so far this year, there is no war at least on the freeways, etc.! LOL! This is wonderfully thought-provoking, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I think..this moment..this slice of time punctuated with thoughtful realizations is quite indicative of the desire for the "perfect" the utopia...and the realization somewhere in a swee bit of bitter reflection we are trapped...to be human, and to endure.

as usual... very well done...

Corrine,

I especially liked the last line:

"the free  way".....

says much in relation to the rest of the poem.

Enjoyed. Pat
