I stand in pausing, amidst the winter winds, I see in glancing, an ancient tree that bends, Thick in girth and reaches far into the sky Iced branches wave to the clouds passing by. But the winter is heavy on its majestic stand And crystal water breaks the fingers of its hand Tearing a limb by weight and icy wind That had grown too old and couldn’t bend. But though the winter has long to linger This hydra oak has many arms and fingers It reaches deep to grasp hold our world Standing inside each blizzard that is hurled And many winter ravishing has it seen To endure and make a new head of green. Written with the spirit of a druid. The Green Man smiles, PG. as do I...as do I. |

Inspired.... The Maple, long inspired once stood strong in height and limbs of hold weighted much from ice and snow and gassed from leaks has grown too old... Its arms that once a poet climbed to reach upon a soul in need now has lost and green is halved. No loving words can heal the bleed. When Spring shall come and life renews this tree now halved will then be felled. The words that grew, inspired from will nevermore in thoughts be held. |
