Simple question…

“Why did they cancel
her show?”

unexpected response -

“Who wants to listen
to a middle-aged woman?”

Resultant pondering

says,

me.

I would listen to a woman
who has stepped through the fog

who has learned to see past
fear

who has listened to “all”
and maintains her humor…

who steps past tedious shrill,
not having time
for self-pity…

but then, I listen to youth
as well,
who believe their difficulties far out-weigh
any others have ever known,
thinking their elders
just don’t identify…

I even listen to men.

Of all ages.

Who would listen to
a middle-aged woman?

Who would not?

I like this. I think that we should listen to what others have to say. Who knows, we will probably learn something we may not know...

hmmmmm....

wisdom comes from actively learning to understand and evaluate then act on... excluding voices limits exposure

U.S. society has always been unfair to women, in my opinion. Just look at Hollywood; a middle-aged actress like the great Meryl Streep has difficult times getting roles, especially romantic ones, yet "ol' dogs" like Michael Douglas and others star in movies where their love interests are almost have their age.

Is it just nature or is it a forced concept?

Enjoyed.

I think this an interesting piece and much to contemplate. My own mind, and learning of all others, is all I have to be who I am. You follow some, and they and their following go right over a cliff is closed mindedness....

Not a leader, perhaps, (a walk beside you and be your friend, I will) but, also, not a follower...each person and group too precious not to want to know about.

Thanks   Pat

I would.  For there is much to learn from those who have gone before.

Thank you.

There is much to gained by listening to all generations...the young as well as the more senior...our value should never be based on our sex or age but on the contribution each of us is able to make..

believe in what your heart feels...

I would listen to a middle-aged woman.  All ages have something to teach us, right?  Nice seeing a post by you, Decaflame.

If I don't listen to them..
then why in all the world would someone listen to ME?!

Though, personally I would much rather have a walk or lunch with a friend or even a stranger. ..not as likely for either parties to gain alot from something one sided. Though, it is possible on occasion.
Quite a thinker,

(smiles) Yeah, you go girl! Well, obviously, many middle-aged women are sure being heard right now, like Norah Jones! (smiles) I believe everyone has a special voice and we should never critique ones voice as it is the purity of your soul and charisma that is important, God Bless You, we al love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
