The state of mind

Not intending to make a profound statement,
he wears his heart on a shivering stance,
his stiffened stare,
cold beyond the icy gutter
where he stands,
looking east.

Not waiting in anticipation of a windfall
but in quiescence,
the remission into years
of steamy hottub matinees,
and apple pie cooling on the windowsill;
he knew warmth.

Now, on the outside
looking in, to the
eyes of strangers whose teeth chatter
from their excitement of the big sale,
the child's piano recital,
the grocery list recitations.

There will always be roof sitters
who see their world through rose patte
and fresh linen, and then
there are the rest of them,
dressed for the one-way street;
unrested.

He didn't intend to make a profound
statement, but the sun caught him,
unaware,
looking east.

Brava!  While this could be so true...I did wait to see your first post.  With a lovely name such as yours, I anticipated a lot...and I was not disappointed!  Please, check your E-mail for a special greeting!

hmmmmmm.. think I am going to like your style...and way with words... Welcome to PIP.

Brilliance was not his
but the sun captured him
as he stood looking East
and lent its light
to the smoldering embers
behind his eyes
and lay waste to years

Turned at angles to reason
I watched him burn

bright

and his warmth
savored a vacume of not
filling it

You've poetically employed some wonderful, creative analogies and imagery. Very refreshing reading. Welcome to Poetry Land Tari, so nice to have you here with us.

I don't write often and I'm very content

the good poets here.

Thanks bunches for your appreciation

"I don't write often"

then start... writing more often.
seems to me the more you do it..the easier the words find themselves..

so write.... and I'll read a while..

One little correction...
I *used* to write alot and often.
Now time finds my time used up
and my muse dried up with it.

Do we really ever have enough time?
