I'm not one to talk
about miracles.
But for a moment
last night
I had to wonder
why so many were so lucky
as five fell from the sky
in a final goodbye.
How can it be
that two planes could collide and fall
from 3000 feet in the evening sky
and crash into a city neighborhood,
and only five people die?
I have to wonder why or how
and even as the sun rose today,
I had to ask why?
I will light candles
for those who fell,
and also for those hundreds
who looked up into the sky
as it was falling last night,
and yet woke up this morning to see
the magnificent Rockies sun rise.
And I will go out
and say thank you
to God.

Well written Kacy...I often ponder why of such things which seem almost by chance, and yet, I always wonder....

For most part I have a fatalistic attitude, which helps me a lot.....
And, I try to keep caught up on relationships and apologies, if needed,  and the ~I love yous~ .....just never know....do we?

Hugs, Pat

Your words make a lot of sense. With the sadness of loss of life there was a miracle more where not lost. That they were lucky enough to see the Rockies of tomorrow.

I've been many places in my life where but for some protecting grace, I would not be here.  While I don't know why, I give thanks.  And thank you for your write.  KJ

Yes, Kacy, I often wonder, too, about the whys of God. But, He says in His Word, that our minds couldn't comprehend if we knew all these things. He always has a reason and a time for whatever He does or doesn't do. Don't you think?

Pat, Lester, KJ, Ethel, thanks for reading and replying. Life is fragile, and it can end so quickly. It is a miracle that so few souls departed from this singular moment of tragedy.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Kacy, I heard about that in the news last night, I live only 20 minutes from where that crash happened around 26th Street and Federal, and my heart goes out to the few who were lost in the collision yet I am also very thankful the casulaties weren't a couple hundred or so! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, I send angel hugs to everyone in the neighborhood today, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Hey, Noah. There is some speculation as to a possible fifth victim, but that is still unbelievable considering the population density of that neighborhood.

In a quiet morning of thankfulness here, JM.
The pilot of the smaller Cessna was a 21 year old graduate of Columbine, with two passengers. The second plane was piloted by a 58 year old man with one passenger.
All the injuries on the ground were minor.
I am still pondering this one.

Would you understand if I said that I find this reverence comforting from you Kacy?  And I'm sure glad you and Sara are ok, too!

but for a moment, what timely words, reading the NY papers today, the kids that are missing in city island, bronx new york, out
on a rowboat, freezing winter, weather, dark ,think they are invincible, then again so did i at l6.
all the planning, all the dreaming, and in a moment it could end. what kind of comforting words can we ever give a person's family
when they are hit by tragedies as such, words just seem so hollow at times.

Nan, KJ, Sy, Duncan, Vandana,Inked...thanks to each of you for your comments.
This 'event' could have been catastrophic. It was a horrible death for all those people on the planes, but a miraculous survival event for all those on the ground. I have a feeling many hundreds of Denverites thanked God last Friday night.

Yes, Duncan, I do understand, and value your understanding and friendship.
