Frail is the evening of frigid shadows and chimney smoke, obscuring mocking stars. They laugh. They’ve always laughed, but I cannot… not always. Dormant is the artist, no beauty-strokes of brush. Dormant is the winter, a portrait of death. The artist’s hand is stilled, or is it killed, only to be resurrected in the Spring? Perhaps never. I cannot scream and bleed upon the page to vent my rage, for it’s contained. No inspectors or sanctions. It’s my personal weapon of mass destruction. We all have one, so it would seem. I keep mine hidden. I’m a man who won’t step on an ant and detest that part of me at times. I wish I had a zipper so I could unzip and step out of self. Then I would be free… of me, at least for a little while, only to return and probe my thoughts once more. For now, they are at war. |

Michael--To unzip and step out of self would be a relief at times for me also...but it would be too difficult to step back in. This poem's emotional impact is felt, my friend. |

(sigh) Oh Michael, this is lovely, sweet friend, I agree that we should all do this every once in a while, though it would be so uncomfortable to get back in and all the while it seems as long as you can find a refuge within this realm that is more worth your while! (big hugggsssssss) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Extremely vivid emotions here. Always well written. Was thinking that my weakest feeling moments, brought the hero out of me...I think it must be meant that way. ThisDiamond |

Michael, Very powerful. And, yes, you do write free verse very well. Can't remember any others. Enjoyed, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Michael, I wasn't on here much for a few days because of the very reason you spoke of in this poem. Sometimes no matter how hard I try, I go into myself, and that's when I get so depressed. Gary has been a life-saver to me where this is concerned. He knows me so well that he seems to be able to see inside my mind. Sometimes I get a little bit aggravated because he can do this. Most of the time, though, I'm so grateful to him because if it wasn't for him I wouldn't face up to me, at times. Well, didn't mean to write all that or to reveal that part of myself, but I guess I just did, didn't I? . . I always love to read your poetry, dear friend. I have a lot of it in my library and this is where this one's going, too. . . BTW, I really do miss you whenever I don't see you here on these pages of blue. You're one of my favorite writers, kind sir..... "Love makes the world go around" |

Martie, Thank you, dear one, your thoughts on my work always mean so much to me. Salty, Thank you much! I really appreciate you reading. Susan, You're so sweet, thank you, Susan! Noah, Your replies also always so thoughtful and kind. Thank you, my friend. Karen, Thank you! Yeah, it would seem that I've also done some of that running. It's nice to see you here. Chris, Thank you so much, my friend. Nancy, Yes, I'm doing very well, thank you. I hope you are also. ThisDiamond, I do believe also that in our weakest moment it is when we grow much needed strength. Thank you! Pat, It's not often that I write free verse so there's not much to look for. LOL! Thanks! BluesSerenade, Thank you...and I appreciate you picking out that particular verse, it's my favorite. Ethel, Hi there! I had no idea you liked my poetry that much, but it DOES make me feel good knowing so, thank you! Gary sounds like a great guy, by the way! Nan, Yeah, sometimes it would be good if we could just step outside ourselves for a short while to find some peace. Thanks Nan! Dixie, If you felt it, then I must've expressed it well. Thank you, my friend. Charisma, Thanks a bunch and great to see you on another rotation in Deputy Mod. Hugs Everyone, thank you! I do so appreciate you reading. |
