By the sea

Each tear wept, was once a raindrop,
that helped fill the lakes, ponds and sea.
So now it will return to clouds,
recycled tears of you and me.

You’ve wept my tears, I’ve wept your own.
Each time we thirst, we all drink tears.
We drink the tears and weep them, too,
of those now dead ten thousand years.

The scientists are quick to say,
that water cannot multiply.
Each drop’s been here since creation.
Even Jesus was known to cry.

Some tears flow in a mountain stream
and some are waves that lick the shore.
Some are a summer thunderstorm.
So many are wept by the poor.

But tears of joy are the best
and bring the eyes such loveliness.
No tear is wasted, it returns.
sometimes it does so in a kiss.

I loved this poem Michael; it's a keeper for sure!

Beautifully worded thoughts. Michael, yes, I too believe that tears never really disappear, but are recycled, and that we are all interconnected in time, space, and thought. Thanks for this post, it will find a nice home in my library. Peace. Namaste.

Oh, I love this poem!! I have cried many a teary raindrop myself. Tears do serve many purposes and they do come from the soul. Thanks for this interesting look at them.
