the nature of the laugh
that when cut in half
of the sound you digest..and rarely beguiles?
no doubt a clever quest,
not as sublte as sister smile.

so tape recordings show
how women radiate inner glow
and alter the pattern of their laugh
attract the man to carry their staff.

there is no intent to suggest
what laughter really is
the nature behind the quest
has long been a quiz.

more evidence pours in... recordings show
male counterparts obtain a louder row
with laughter more sustained at higher pitch
minor giggles exhibit another hitch

that men laugh just the same among themselves
as they do with their female consorts
might get you to object and offer retort
that he gaffaws just as loud, with male friends
may point to a placated rivalry,
to make amends.

Laughing AND smiling at this one.
I remember being deceived by a good laugh. He wasn't trying to deceive; I simple misinterpreted, thereby deceiving myself.

Hello Midnite,

well now he could have been reticent to tell you what was really on his mind and so out came some laughter..I find that now and again
with both male and female friends and the tonality of this laugh is not as sustained as a spontaneous one.

Sy,

the tool of a fool, very true.. often enough I find a fake laugh goes hand in hand with
ceratin moves that gives it away.

Scorpio,

if its genuine yes... if not, rather not hear about it

it is a siren call for a heart smile
and when heard by drop-by ears
is one which they wish knew the origin of
and long to become a part of.

Ecrivan, amusingly astute, yet unchildishly full of gaeity, you did so well of writing of the inner meanings of laughter.

Yeah, ecrivan, there is a difference between a laugh and a  laugh, isn't there?
Now, I love it when people really laugh and don't just put on, for whatever reason. But, I hate for people to be pretentious about anything.
Vaery thought-provoking poem. I enjoyed it.
