The Big Chill

So cold, the sharpness of the air
piercing through me, the shivering
braking the cycle of thoughts.

The stairs creak, complaining
their need for warmth.
Unthinkable words trying to pass
through lips, quivering for
the comfort of anothers'
to press their say into mine,
to revive what is missing
and rescue me
from the harshness of this day.

Left behind, to engage the cold,
a master thief of steal pockets
these hands with words on their tips
waiting for the degrees to rise
and for warmth to turn a phrase.

Thanks Karen, yes it is the left front view next to the house (one of the gardens laden with ice) It's in the teens again and the cold goes right through me in this 100 year old house with 47 windows and 4 floors with radiators for heat.
It's probably my fault for removing the asbestos last year from the pipes in the basement. (cold versus health) I just keep switching rooms to be in..usually ending up in bed where I have a heated  mattress pad *s or in the tub.

Did anyone take a picture of a closet back there? I forgot to and I am working on my collage and Florida shelf and have no pics of my secret hideout. ;(

I know what you mean about it being so cold. It is very cold here with strong north winds. The poem and the picture are very good.

scorpio thank you...it sure has been cold here for the past two weeks and will continue for yet another.

Karilea, thank you, it was just a few morning thoughts  as I tried to get myself moving this morning.
If I blink, I will see snow...it's on its way
christian , thankyou for reading. Yes, I picked this name and its meaning to me was poetic, too.

Sue, I made myself take the tree down and pack everything away neatly so I ended up warm enough to be sweating.  Strange huh?

Now back to being cold.

Too bad we can't have both warmth AND the beauty of winter all at once, eh?... This is lovely, Maureen..

Maureen, I agree with Nan. You poets write such beautiful poems about the cold and the snow. It would be wonderful if warmth could go with it.
It's cold in Florida today. Tonight is supposed to be the coldest of this year. (I still won't say just what the temp will be...)

If it weren't for cold winters many of we Virgos wouldn't be here. Enjoyed the creaking stairs. Bundle up.

M

enchantingvamp, glad you enjoyed the picture as well.
and I love Jewell

Thank you Nan, yes the cold  really goes through me this year. Usually I love it. Too many days in a row of it, I think.

Ethel,Well these waords  of response add to the warmth of my day...what litle there is
I know that when it is cold in Florida, those who are native to Florida do suffer. My mother lived there until last year.

RSWells, well I never quite thought of it that way...being a Moonchild (Cancer)
Thanks for the enlightenment
