From a man who settled to acquire a new tongue I developed a dislike for what ruined his lungs from the time I was little his presence was rare weekend opened the chance for Dad's show of care. I am from a lady who soon went back to work to remarry then would have been an added quirk so she handled the kids with sterness and grace wove us sweet stories from her native lace. I am from a diaspora that fled Russian pogroms that settled in Canada to follow American norms that read of the house that Jack built that learned of pleasure and of guilt. been tempered with the usual pains to succeed have modeled my views to suit present needs quarrelled with people who wept authority settled to favour a stricken minority. respected dissidents that filled international skews have since kindled more pluralistic views borrowed those subjects to adorn paintings of mine from a man and a lady I learned how to rhyme. Pleasure to share some truth on me. My thanks to Barbara Trautman for this autobiographical idea. |
