Winter vacation A blessing and malediction For the stay at home mom I get to sleep in But is it really worth Ten days of nagging And begging? Nay! It's movie day, my choice The circus has laid claim To any open space on My bedroom floor Snack man has given the ok To devour all tasty treats within range of scrawny, wirey, or otherwise chubby arms The Transformers theme still Rocks & my singing efforts Have promoted me from party pooper to ring master Belly flopping on the bed Earned brownie points As well- especially since Snack man's bowl of chips Landed all over his face On impact He's such a sport! Somewhere between the hush And mid movie, nestled in the Circle of snack man's crumby arms, I reflect on just how good it is To be part of this imperfectly Good family... Monsters on my legs, Pinning one arm asleep, Blocking part of my view- (The little migrators) All of us, snug as bugs, in a rug.... sunkissed.
