Dear John, Thank you for your timely well wishes, but your hourglass no longer suits me. The white sandy nights you cherish most never really suited this fragile heart. I stepped out of the tiny crystal shell in which you offered to house me, to possess me, body and soul. Different sunsets now hold my gaze, I feel longer warmer days, less frigid nights. No, your chosen hourglass had too few real grains, and the spill was forever upside down. But thank you for the offer. It was good to hear from you.... good to know you still remember the real sandcastles and tidepools, and not just the seaweed. Have a good life. |

If you'd written 'Dear Dunc'...then we could have avoided all this confusion! |

Kacy, I like the way you wrote this. It was very much to the point. Yes, those "Dear John" letters do have to be written sometimes, don't they? "Love makes the world go around" |

Kacy, Perfect! and this: ..."to few real grains"... oh, good, good, good, the entire poem written with such class and empowerment. Liked the imagery, too. Hugs, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

shadows, RS, Pat, Bill, thanks for reading and replying to this. It has taken years for me to spill this one from my quill. [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (01-04-2003 02:31 PM).] |
