The ultimate sacrifice I can think of
Is what they did to our Savior, Jesus
How they split his skin with whips
As He stood and endured the pain
All for His children, children like you
To save us all from ourselves.

Who carried the burden of the cross
Our crosses, our burdens, our sins
All because the love He holds for each
He endured it when they spit into His face
And pushed Him to the ground, and blasphemed His name
Believing not that He was sent from God.

He endured each heart-rending nail
That pierced into his wrists
And tore into the feet of peace
Thorns that were sunk deep into the head
Of one who endured because of love.

One who was placed upon a cross
And hung until his very bones
Were out of their joints
And the lungs caved in
And He endured suffocation.

But even though he hung there,
He still had the strength to teach
And say, God forgive them
For they know not what they do.

But He is an overcomer, for He has RISEN!
