When raging storms are howling You'd better not be outside I had to because a hatch got loose Had to walk with my legs spread wide A Westerly gale is roaming my place I heard the roof tiles rattle I really hope they will stay put When wind is fighting his battle Trees are bending deep to earth I think my roof just moved a bit The stove is burning with hot coals I'm rather comfortable where I sit But every time I hear wind roaring In full speed dwelling this flat land I keep thinking of that tree across Will the weeping willow still stand Two daughters rang "Mom how are you? Can you cope with this storm blowing hard I said: "I'm fine my love, I won't sweat Until the roof from the house does part" And so I'm writing here my verse While storm is knocking on my door I've shut it tight, I won't let him in And ignore him, when he knocks some more Like scattered leaves...my words will flow [This message has been edited by Titia Geertman (10-27-2002 02:15 PM).] |

This is wonderful. I, too, have trees I wonder about; will they blow down during a storm. You sound so warm and cozy in this poem, and, ever the silent wondering what will happen, as you wait out the storm. Seems so real. Enjoyed it greatly, Warmly, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

OH MY TITIA! YOU KEEP YOURSELF SAFE. I AM GLAD YOU HAVE THE NICE COZY FIRE TO KEEP YOU WARM. I, TOO, HOPE THE WEEPING WILLOW TREE STILL STANDS AFTER THE STORM IS OVER. |

Titia, thanks so much for sharing this. It really seemed like it was happening, as it is raining here, too. It's not storming, though, thank God. Love To All, Ethel |

Hi friends, thanks for your replies and concern. It's slowing down now and I survived LOL, others were not that lucky, it seems this was the heaviest storm in 12 years. Well I'll see the damages tomorrow, when I'm going back to work again. BACK TO WORK Brrrrrr....!!! I don't think I have any damage here though the roof tiles were rattling heavy and loud. Love you all, Titia Like scattered leaves...my words will flow |

The mighty oak stands firm against the stormy winds and often gets pushed over. The willow submits to the wind and is bent to the ground only to arise when the storm is gone.People are like that.We can learn a lot from nature. paladin |

Titia, that was some storm that hit your area. I was reading about it in our newspaper this morning. Seems many people were killed and blown into the sea, trees ripped out by their roots and many buildings damaged. I hope your roof stayed put and you were all snuggly by the fire. Thinking of you, Marti Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. |

I hear tell that one should open all the windows in a severe windstorm, like a tornado, etc. Hope it wasn't one of those and that you're okay. I'm thinking you had the computer off during the storm and you wrote this post the event. Therefore, you are fine and your house is still standing, with its roof. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
