Like glazed sheets of silk slithering softly, Animating dormant pores from their sleep, Enswathing my skin with intangible curtains, Subtly seducing, do chilly winds creep. The stars take their holiday on this grim Saturday night, Overshadowed by grey clusters of menacing clouds, Like dark swans sheeting over a lucid blue midnight, The sky’s face as though angered with grimacing brows, Spits down upon me like a furious taunt, Yet ever so lightly as not to be seen, Till the mind grows uneasy with curious daunt, Whether the weather or will be so impulsively keen. Involuntarily I shiver as tenuous drops, So invisibly fall from a tenebrous mist, Insubstantial in mass yet like frozen splinters, These icy scintillations randomly nip at my skin. The moon is in hiding, a great coward of old, Only shedding its light while the clouds are at play, While my teeth chatter in shivers reacting to the cold, I pretend these are raindrops streaming down my face. For on nights like these I'd surely have your arms, To encomfort me with your nestling warmth, For only upon loss does one miss the charms, That were so close just yesterday yet so far from now. |
