A State of Disarray

Secretly I've watched hands.
Hands hold pens in signatured rest.
Fingers hooked through Missing U espresso mugs.
My longing ever present, ever aching.
But alas, the oblique path I travel,
never brings me to you.
So I refrain my eyes to linger on hands.
Hands that gently touched me at end of games rest.
Fingertips that hang coats and hats.
These things occur while you ponder
misty mornings full of fog in abandonned townships,
while vacant street lights blink their commands.
Yet I feel blessed to be a mind's voyeur
upon the naked images you portray,
or sneak a glance to a purposeful head
facing the music of symphony's play.
Oh what would you say...if you truly knew.
If I could be all that I am,
yet have lost along the way.
Would I be enough...
Or the humour of the play?
I know the limitations
And stay my unwelcome hands.
Fixating on those that taper to mystery
Of places I shall never behold.
Hands that smooth a crown of skin.
Fingertips touching structured cheek.
For meeting those eyes would undo the soul.
Secretly I've watched hands.
