Investing in Us
By Larry Chadwick
Lame but fun!

I want to invest in the commodity of us,
And time seems to be the best currency.
But I can’t afford the exchange rate of life,
Trading in my obligations of dependency.

Wealth cannot acquire the time I need,
That would free me to be always with you.
Yet I’d like to stake my future on us,
It’s a stock that would pay me good dividends too.

In a time when the market has crashed,
And everyone is crying the blues;
I alone possess the courage,
To tell the bear he’ll pay his dues.

I’ll ignore all the analysts,
Who have no vested interest in us.
And fly against conventional thought,
No matter how big all the fuss.

I’m selling all that I have,
And pawning things that don’t sell.
No matter the risk of investing in us,
The returns will be great I can tell.

One day the wealth of our love,
Will be the envy of all;
They’ll clamor for us to tell,
But it will be ours alone to recall.
November 29, 2002

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Wow, Larry, this is really intense. Love, friendship, and health are the most valuable assets in this world. You are blessed to be surrounded with friendship here at Passions, and we are all wealthier because of you.

Hi Larry...

I'm glad to see you back here tonight.

I enjoyed your poem, too.

Sounds like a sound investment to me!

This was witty and winsome--just like you!

~ May your 'investment' continue to grow and give you the dividends that you so richly deserve!

Larry - wonderful play on words here. Enjoyed this on a snowy Ontario eve. Chris

Always the giving heart. Bless you sweet friend. Your kindness strengthens me. And thank you.

Ethel,
You are a sweet thing! And thank you for your encouragement.

Linda,
Awww...shucks. And thanks for your generosity. Bless you friend.

Denise,
And I'm willing to settle for it is a close to wealth as I will likely get! And thank you so much.

Chris,
How lovely. Trade you. Thanks dear friend.

I love this concept and the way you parlayed it into a poem, Larry...
I would give up all of my $$$$$ right now if it would bring my health back to me...

ps,
And probably a little goofy! Thanks.

Lyra,
How come I didn't think of that word? And thank you sweet lady. It is indeed lovely to see you here. Merry Christmas.
