Between midnight thoughts

0 posted 2002-12-10 06:48 PM

The river of my sorrow outflows the nile,
My anguish outlasts the sands of time,
An ocean of tears I have made with the pieces,
Of a heart so shattered it could splinter the sky.
And put out the stars.

With every love lost I die once more,
I breathe for two, myself and one more,
If love is an ocean it stops at the shore,
Where i'm trapped, I long to be free.
Where are you?

I hear love's call in the dead of the night,
And in my shivering arms I wrap myself,
With the moon as my lady and shadow by my side,
To tend my emotions in solitude I am left.
Give me a reason.

I know you're out there my love, I suspect,
That destiny calls you off to your dreams,
And then perhaps at some point our life leads,
Us to each others arms in quests to achieve...
The ultimate happiness.

Insane I may seem to miss what I've never known,
Yet still I miss you as the mountain peaks miss the snow,
As the ripples of the lake miss the winds that craft them,
I crave your whispers and kissing the lips that waft them.
Please come to me.

By a flicker of flame let me promise my love,
And cement your affections in the walls of your heart,
Then melt your soul with a kiss, though your thorns,
Stick me to keep me far.
Let me bleed.

It is worth the suffering of a thousand lives,
To have you in just one,
To see violets opening from sleeplike eyes,
To see forever and forever be lost.
In the love of my queen.

What we share is beyond human nature,
And I pretend i'm not sure of your love,
To protect myself from our emotional rapture,
I act like I don't know you're the one.
You go beyond my shell.

You have seen beneath my skin,
Ventured beyond my shadow,
And yet we're separated by an ocean,
Acting like we're whole without each other.
Our tears know better.

Maybe our mistake was to begin in the first,
That which neither of us could end,
A love so fervent that is melted us down,
To the very essence of ourselves.
Let me drink you in.

I've seen you fall into anothers arms,
Even coaxed you with a smile,
So afraid to love and yield to your charm,
That I watched you slip before my eyes.
And died in silence.

The moon wept in crystal faced dewdrops,
And from my cheek they rolled,
Stars sparkling a silent soliloquy,
Of an epitome of love untold.
Which lay quietly unlived - never unfelt.

Until courage had found me,
Or be it fear of loss,
That I lay my silent love story,
Upon your ear though high the cost.
yet you heard it long before.

The first time you peered into my eyes,
And responded with a smile,
As if I said something from deep inside,
In a wordless language of the soul.
But I didn't understand.

I remember in my greatest loss,
I sat holding in a tear,
Desperately squeezing it from running out,
Fighting hard to cloak despair.
But you wouldn't let me lie.

It streamed down on its own,
And straight to your palm it ran,
Nestling as though it found its home,
Right there in your hand.
Always....

Your words then shine through even this day,
That the tear became a part of you,
And together we'd face all that came our way,
So when I breathe, I breathe for two.
Always...

So although I "moved on," and you're living your "life,"
Since tomorrow may never be mine,
Let me say now that you've held my heart,
From the beginning to the end of time.
Remember...

Always...
Always...
Always..........

Will I love you.

Perhaps the length of your poem intimidated some readers, but this was a beautiful and haunting outpour of feelings familiar.  Back to the top for another chance!

yes, it is sort of long, I'm not a speed reader and my eyes hurt a little, but I read enough to see what you're feeling.
