In the magic of a child’s Christmas eyes So full of awe with such innocence That their emotion cast spells Into the deepest part of your heart In a glee that only youth can duplicate The energy to run down any adult Who finally gets everything under the tree To be awoken from asleep to awaiting eyes Saying time a wasting Soaring paper wrapping In towering mounds Of Christmas sounds Torn to threads in split seconds Each gift being totally devoured In record timing And when your bundle of joy Finally come over to thank you Hug your child And savor the moment For this is the ultimate dessert Of the magical season So as the day passes Take the time to give thanks As family being so fortunate With the peace of having been blessed With so many special moments D.Lester Young 12/7/2002 Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) |
