Dear Vincent, I heard you cry in yonder sky as someone stole part of your heart today. Sitting here in blue with you, I dream the colors of life, painted in every hue. Vincent, perhaps the thieves who stole two paintings will discover their heart beats in time, and return yours to where it belongs, for all the world to see the mastery of thee. This morning, thieves broke into the van Gogh museum in Holland and stole two masterpieces. |

Thanks Kris. If not the thieves, at least the paintings. |

Oh how dreadful. Nothing is safe or sacred anymore. What a crying shame. Hugs, Marti 'A witty saying proves nothing.' |

Midnitesun~ You written this beautifully; and I, too, hope that the paintings are recovered. Nicely done. Hugs, ~Vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, |

Ethel, Marti, Vicky Thanks for reading and commenting. There is special significence attached to one of the stolen paintings, "Congregation." It is a painting of the church where van Gogh's father was a preacher. The lady in the middle may be representative of van Gogh's mother, in mourning after the senior van Gogh died earlier that year. |

(big huggssssssss) Oh Kacy, this is so very sad, sweet friend, it is not just the paintings themselves that are stolen, it is the soul of an artist, and unless these thieves are wretched cold fools, they will have the heart to turn themselves in and return this beauty of an artist undamaged! (sad sigh) This is heartbreaking, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Unforgivable, truly nothing is sacred is it? Every day I wake up and think what's next? |

Reminds me of a couple of things, Kacy: one of my favorite songs called "Vincent" and the film, "The Thomas Crown Affair". It's intriguing that thieves could get away with it today, but it's maddening too. Just tell me that "Starry Night" wasn't one of the paintings... -MVS "AS ABOVE SO BELOW" |

Mark, it wasn't starry. I'd be on a plane looking for les miserables myself if it were! No, but one painting was of the church where Vincent's father was a preacher. When first painted, it did not have the people in front. He painted them in later on, including the lady in mourning. It is believed this represented his mother, as his father had died not long before he added in the 'congregation.' [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (12-08-2002 12:40 AM).] |
