Scorn and misery
are always
tolerable,
for they barely
cover
the nakedness
of a heart and soul
shattered
beyond compare,

perhaps, before even,
having had the
chance
to find the
meaning of love,
the joy of living,
the beauty within
themselves and others.

God, help me
not to react too quickly
to an unhappy
person today, whose
only contact with
decency
might
be just me.

And, God?
Please forgive me,
all the untold
number of times
~I did~!

Wonderfully beautiful poem. Very well expressed.

Sadly, the right time of year for this reminder of patience. Enjoyed

There's a lot of unhappy people roaming around in the malls at this time of year. It's a real struggle to remain decent and not act just like them.

This was a great reminder to act civilized and keep a smile on our faces.

Pat

It is good to remember not to feel anger towards some of gruff manner, and realize that it is not you that upsets them, but themselves.  Thank you for sharing this wisdom.

This kind of reminds me of the prayer of St. Francis of Assis. It is very nice ..... and the first stanza is so much to think about.

... and they sent him home happy ... one hundred percent.

Treat others as gently as we'd hope to be treated.  Nicely penned, Pat...and wise

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Pat, this is a very good poem, filled with truths.
May God help me, too. Thank you for writing this, friend.

Pat~ Beautiful words to live by.
I often find myself taking things out on another, just because I am having a bad day.
It shouldn't be that way. Thanks for the eye opener...Paul

Ron,

Thanks for the "nice thoughts and attitude", appreciate your comments.

Dixie,

Yes, right about the tensions and stress. Thanks for the"just beautiful."

WinterWren,

Thanks for responding, glad you liked it; that it is wonderful/beautiful..

Richard,

Yes, a reminder of patience; thank you for taking the time to read and respond.

Scorpio and Pilgrimage,

Yes, a wake-up call, and I too, am guilty far too often, insensitive to others..

Marti,

A smile on my face, or similar, I had considered for title. Thanks.

Martie,

Your response is exactly what I had in mind with the writing of the first stanza. You never know what is behind the the "gruff" manner, but it is not love within, and clearly, ~without~

The Lonely Stranger,

I know what you mean., re: St. Francis poem....the first stanza, originally had two other stanzas of like thoughts and I decided it might be too much...so opted for this finish...
Thank you for replying.

Sunkissed,

Thanks.

Michael,

Yes, of course. thanks.

Bill,

Thank you.

Ethel,

Yes, may God help us all. Thanks.

Aenimal,

It sure would. Thank you...

Paul,

Nice for you to read and respond.
Welcome for the eye-opener..smiles to you...

Thanks to all of you. Happy holidays.
