I drug this beat-up six-string, About a million miles Played it in motel rooms, To cat-calls and some smiles. "Little Joe the Wrangler", Is a song it knows so well, The part about Blue Rocket... The wash-out where they fell. I've sung about the "Runnin' Gun", And heroes standin' tall. And the cowboy who got trampled- "When the Works all Done this Fall". I've song about the rodeo, And sung about the West, And tried to live the life I love, I've really done my best. Like Rod has penned, and Janice- Today I ride alone, I've outlived friends and family, The life I knew is gone. But still I ride the rough string, Each time I go to bed. And pretty buckle-polishers, Still wander through my head. I may be old and slower- But I've got a lot of try, As long as I am breathing- The West will never die. |

Breathe long, GS... for your words bring life to faded photographs... I could hear the soft strumming with this one. *S* |
