I might skip one in ten
But I never get passed
Three worn pages
Of Plath
Before I’m down on my knees
Sticking my head in the computer

The keyboard’s a graveyard
Each letter a tombstone
And I push them to flush out
The demons within

Cobain,
you’re in utero
Through the tubes in my radio

Disconnected
Disaffected

Confession recital
Dress-
Up rehearsal
For a play that may
Or may not go on

Cobain and Plath
Sitting in a bath
Washing their cuts down the drain
With the radio crackling
The skin simmering soup
Now we’re all on the same page again.

Suicide is painless...that's what the song lyrics said.
But I just think it's brainless.

I can't see those two sitting in the same tub though.
Interesting write, Walt.

"The keyboard’s a graveyard

talk about confessional poetry...
it's always a pleasure to see your creativity abound in the forums, walt.

an evening with plath and cobain...
sounds like a vh1-Storyteller-kind-of-gig

it's our struggle for identity that leaves us all unknown

Hey Walt,

Very well done.
These images are poetry in its purest essence.

Havn't a clue about plath, can't help but know of kurt's hurts...makes me glad I'm a shower fan and not baths.

Live like it's your last day...
Dance like nobody's watching...
Love like you've never been hurt...

ok i am gonna give it a try to explain all I put in this poem

I might skip one in ten *from "Lady Lazarus" by Plath - I added the word "might"
But I never get passed
Three worn pages
Of Plath
Before I’m down on my knees
Sticking my head in the computer *she commited suicide by sticking her head in an oven

The keyboard’s a graveyard
Each letter a tombstone
And I push them to flush out
The demons within * I am writing poetry on my computer

Cobain,
you’re in utero
Through the tubes in my radio *Nirvana's album "In Utero"

Disconnected
Disaffected

Confession recital *Plath wrote confessional poetry
Dress-
Up rehearsal
For a play that may
Or may not go on * Life may or may not go on they both commited suicide

Cobain and Plath
Sitting in a bath * I am in the bath reading Plath as I was in the opening of the poem
Washing their cuts down the drain *Plath's poem "Cut" deals with eeew cutting her thumb
With the radio crackling *the radio has dropped in the bath
The skin simmering soup * "Lady Lazarus" deals with Nazi issues like how they made lampshades out of the skin from Jews
Now we’re all on the same page again. We're all dead now and the generation gap between Plath and Cobain is erased

I enjoy the fact that the money is going to good use at school.
