Hopefully, she waited
for the phone to ring,
a car in the drive,
a sound of his
arriving
He said he would
be there tonight,
so to be ready to
go out to eat
dinner
Hurrying home from work,
she rushed, getting all
dressed up to go out with
the man of her life,
her Love
Not seeing him for a few
days because of the
holidays with his wife
and family, she waited
anxiously
Suddenly the phone rang,
hurriedly picking it up
she heard his voice, "Honey,
something's come up with
the family"
He asked her if she
could go ahead and eat,
maybe a sandwich, and
he will be over later
tonight
As she was changing into
something more comfortable,
she thought of his words,
as he was hanging up
the phone
"MAYBE  we can go out
to dinner next month, if
I can work it into my
schedule.......oh yeah,
I love you, Babe."
???!!!???

(this is in  NO  WAY  referring to my life with my Gary. It's just some
ramblings I thought up......probably from watching too many movies on television!!??!!)

Ethel - very well done. Although, I have my own reasons for not feeling sorry for the "other woman." Still, it's a heart wrenching situation. Enjoyed. Chris

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Ethel, I'm so very happy this doesn't relate to you and Gary, sweet friend, though it saddens me so much to see this confusion happen to so many others and my heart goes out to them all and hope love can faithfully answer their questions deep down! (sigh) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Yes, Chris. The whole situations of this type are sad....
for both the "other woman" and the wife, too. It's the husband
who is having all the "fun and advantages".

Glad to hear this was a stretch of your imagination! --and very well done, I might add! It was so believable! But then again, I knew this had to be poetic licence because I know how happy he makes you feel! Your love story is so sweet and pure and near brings me to tears at times with it tenderness.

Yes, Noah, I'm glad, too, that Gary and I aren't in this
situation. I was the "wife", though, in situations of this
kind with my late husband, years before he passed away.
He always denied there were other women, because he didn't
want to lose me, but the other women or some of his friends would
always tell me. Like I said, he did quit those things before he died,
but only because he started going to Church, I think. A lot of the
scars are still there for me, though.

Funny how the search for love can take someone sometimes to futility in such the wrong direction...my heart goes out to those that find themselves in the opposite situation of what they sought. Great write. ThisDiamond

Linda, if you read my response to Noah's reply, you will see
where this came from. I probably shouldn't have written it, but
I was trying to see it from the "other woman's" point of view,
I guess. Anyway, it just sort of came tumbling out onto paper.

I do believe that a lot of my mistrust and insecurities stem
from the hurts that I went through years ago. Gary knows all
about all my "doubts and fears" and is patiently helping
me to work through them. Now,  THAT  is what "true love" is all about,
don't you think? I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Gary
loves me very deeply and always will.

I know a couple of women who live this sort of life and are fanatically loyal to the man.
Perhaps some day their fury of being scorned with backfire on the man.  This is a well told and too often true tale.  KJ

Yeah, inkedgoddess, it's hurtful for all concerned,
isn't it?

Ken, thank you so much for the words in your reply. That shows
what a sensitive person you are. A lot of men wouldn't admit
that this isn't right. Again, thank you for speaking out.

An increedibly reflective peice.  I am still reeling from the impact of this topic in my own life.  I don't think a victim of this ever completely heals.

amusemi, I'm so sorry that you went through this, too.
To know that someone you love has been unfaithful is very
heartbreaking, isn't it? Most of the time, from what I understand,
the "other woman", (or person), is being lied to, also.

Gee Ethel, I nearly stopped breathing until I read your disclaimer at the end of this poem. I am so glad it is not you. This is probably the worst situation for a woman to be in. On both sides.

Glad you were just rambling ...
hugs, Marti

Thank you, sweet Marti, for being concerned about me.
I'm sorry that I scared you, though. No, this isn't
about me and Gary, thank God.
Yes, it is bad for everyone concerned. I know because,
as I said earlier, I was the "wife" in a similar situation before.
