Once upon a life ago, I touched upon a star,
Sailed aboard the Southern Cross, in the arms of fair Ishtar,
But journeys must come to an end, no trip lasts evermore,
Ships must dock and passengers, return to earthen shore.

I thought the moon would shine forever, hold us in its glow,
We would sail the universe, above the earth below,
Eternal winds would stay our course, in heaven’s nocturnal sea,
But oceans ebb, and winds die down, some things not meant to be.

I was looking forward, into my yesteryears,
With longing expectation, to melt away my fears,
How could I not of realized, my yesterday’s are gone,
Each day a new beginning, with coming of the dawn.

I was seeking answers, and looked not in my heart,
Our journey is not over, our ship yet to depart,
Once you were my lover, we sailed the stars above,
As we enter our tomorrows, you are my life, my love.

Tim, this is so beautiful, but with a bit of sadness.
It is so well-written. You are a very talented poet.
(I would like to read more of your work...)
Anyway, I don't know if you're talking from personal experience,
or not, so I think I best not say anything else.
Thanks for sharing your poem with us.
